The Hang Seng Index opened at 25,136.24 points, up 77.73 points, or 0.31 percent.

The S&P/ASX 200 index opened at 8,853.30 points, up 26.80 points, or 0.30 percent.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average opened at 42,983.47 points, up 403.20 points, or 0.95 percent.

The Straits Times Index opened at 4,307.63 points, up 10.80 points, or 0.25 percent.
